The first Gravely® tractor was actually a regular, push-by-hand plow utilizing an Indian motorcycle engine. It was mounted on a tractor wheel with belts. Little by little, improvements were made to the tractor, and the Gravely® tradition was born.
Ariens celebrated the 85th anniversary of the Gravely Tractor in 2001 since Benjamin Franklin Gravely built his first one in 1916. Today, Gravely commercial products are one of the most respected names in commercial lawn and garden equipment. Ariens Company purchased Gravely Company, of North Carolina, in 1982 and merged operations under the Ariens Company name and to the Brillion facilities. Ariens Company continues to manufacture Gravely commercial products with the same drive for quality and respect for heritage that began in those early days. Gravely products include a variety of equipment for landscape contractors, including walk-behind and zero-turn mowers, tractors, chippers and professional vacuums.
The days of Benjamin Franklin Gravely may be gone, but his idea lives on at Gravely®. Afterall, at Gravely our goal is to keep you cutting.
